I know what it’s like to struggle with physical and mental symptoms related to menopausing while working in a highly visible leadership role. Because 4 years ago, when I turned 46, that struggle consumed my life. I know what it’s like to wake up and have crushing fatigue and disabling anxiety and feel like my body was an unsafe place to be living in, and yet have to try to show up for my team and my family. And to lay down at night worrying about whether or not I would be able to get enough sleep to function in my life the next day or whether I would have to create workarounds and excuses to mask how terrible I felt. It got so bad that I ended up in the ER twice and had a months-long stretch where I was too anxious to drive my kids to their activities or leave my house for more than a few minutes. I was so tired that simple tasks like eating and going to the bathroom were exhausting, and the only work I could do was remotely on my computer while laying on the couch..

Eventually, I was faced with a choice - keep laying on couch or find help. I hired a therapist and purchased and worked my way through over a dozen online courses - and eventually even completed two new certifications in the areas that helped me heal the most - menopause and tapping..

So, I know how painful it can be. And, I know what it’s like to be on the other side of it. To feel at home in my body again and to have a life where I wake up excited about my work and taking care of my kids and being a part of important things that are happening in my family and community. I go to bed at night thinking about how grateful and happy I feel to have lived through the day I just experienced, with its small moments of joy and connection -- and room to breathe. The best part is I have found a new way to live my purpose - to learn and help others learn - while tuning into my needs and taking care of myself compassionately..
